| July 20th Ryegate House Fire Is Contained To One Room |
By the time we arrived, several volunteer members were getting a well-deserved meal at the local cafe, complements of the Ryegate VFD. Following the burgers, the crew took a bit of a break. The the Montana State Fire Marshal, wearing the blue coveralls, arrived and began inspecting the aftermath for the cause of the fire. The fire was hard to contain due to there being two roofs. Apparently a roof was constructed on top of the original roof, but with more pitch. This resulted in a void where fire was very hard to contain prior to ventilating. We're seeking a more detailed accounting of the event and hope to edit this section soon. At any rate, the Fire Marshal was very complimentary regarding the handing and suppression of the fire. |
